The Weekly Write-Up - December, Week 3

This is going to be a lazy update, so bare with me.

The Development Team has been hard at work nailing down small issues and introducing some tweaks throughout the entire code base.  I actually can't think of a project within the Client or Server that hasn't been touched this week.

Crashes are always the highest priority, and I am really happy to see the number of unique crash reports coming in have been dwindling down lately.  There are definitely a few still out there lingering, but the overall stability of the mod is great and let’s hope the number of new crashes is kept to the bare minimum (hopefully none).

Another priority this week was optimizing some areas of the code so that they run more efficiently, or in a manner in which one would expect them to run.  A few tweaks have been made to the data which is sent between the Client and Server, resulting in some bandwidth optimizations.

The QA Team has been focused on fixing issues with gamemodes and making them easier to play.  One of the complaints raised was that in many cases the gamemodes are hard to understand for new players.  The gamemode authors have taken the advice and are hard at work trying to make things a little more intuitive.  The internal bug tracking system has been opened up for the QA Team to report bugs, suggestions, requests, etc... for each others gamemodes and it is already being used by quite a few of the team.

With some of the quality gamemodes coming out of the QA Team, I must admit that I can't wait to see what the community will be able to create.

The internal testing has ramped up a bit and has resulted in some larger-than-normal tests which have proved to be extremely valuable in producing some new issues, many of which have been quickly addressed.  We are hoping to continue this trend so that we can test internally in a closer to real-life scenario, which of course will produce the best test results.

"We are hoping to continue this trend so that we can test internally in a closer to real-life scenario, which of course will produce the best test results."

Well, quite simply release it. If it's in a working, playable state and nobody is finding many bugs, make a god damn open-beta release so more people can test. This is obviously a faster way to get responses and bug reports. The team is obviously making very fast bug fixes, and they are making a great effort to get a release out and I thank them for that, but there better be some gameplay before Christmas or I am giving up going back to this site just for some shitty Weekly Write-Up, that doesn't expose any information, rather tells us the situation we already knew.

"Crashes are always the highest priority", "Another priority this week was optimizing some areas of the code", "The Development Team has been hard at work".

Nobody gives a crap. People just want to play the game and you are all totally ignoring this. A lot of eager "Supporters" read the site every week, daily, hourly even, and you are constantly feeding these fans vast piles of shit.

Well, and you should appreciate the work they put in this modification, and not start complaininb about it. How do you know when it'll be released? Even they don't know so go away and fuck off. If you don't want to wait fot the DM mod then leave...

Try to create a multiplayer modification for san andreas, which isn't crashing at every single move the player does, and you'll see this isn't as easy as you may think.

They fix bugs very fast, so they are working on it. Be a little bit more patient...And sorry for the vulgarity of my post, but i'm a bit angy now..

Thanks for your efforts guys. Perhaps an auto-update function would be useful, so players can automatically download and install the latest patches and bug fixes everytime they start MTA?

It's not surprising that people are findng the game modes unintuitive, all they want to do is play DM and shoot eachother. So while you are wasting time with all this needless extra functionality of course more bugs are popping up. It's going to go on forever, it has been for the last two years.

Very suspicious.

Nice, someone early suggested an auto-updater. I think that would be a fantastic idea but if they don't have it now then don't worry about it, a secondary objective imo. Still a good idea though. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to not having the bullshit lag jumps from MTA:VC.

p.s.- Does anyone else wonder if the miserable people ever get tired of being miserable? Bitch bitch bitch, that's all they do. Pessimism for a daily meal.
